The Journey from a Second-Year Passion Project

In 2021, while I was in my second year at the University of Moratuwa, I started a small project under the domain quantitysurveyorstudent.com. At the time, I chose to stay anonymous, I simply wanted a space to document what I was learning and share resources that I found helpful.
What started as a quiet corner of the internet quickly grew into something much larger. I began to realize that students from all over the world were reading my articles, using my guides, and finding value in my experiences. Knowing that I was helping thousands of peers navigate the complexities of Quantity Surveying felt truly wonderful.
A New Chapter: From Student to Professional
As I entered my final years of university and transitioned into the workforce, I took a necessary time away. My focus shifted toward completing my university’s education and navigating the monumental move to Dubai to begin my professional career.
Now that I have settled into this vibrant, fast-paced construction hub, it felt like the perfect time to breathe new life into this project.
Why QS Student?
With my move to Dubai came a rebranding. What was once quantitysurveyorstudent.com is now qsstudent.com. This change represents more than just a shorter URL; it reflects my own growth from a student at Moratuwa to a professional working in one of the most dynamic construction environments in the world.
